Gallery Paul Andriesse
Gallery Paul Andriesse was based on the Prinsengracht next to one of Amsterdam's picturesque canals in early 1984. That was when the young owner, who also worked as a photographer, took over the gallery Helen van der Meiji, where he once worked as an assistant a few years ago. Ms. Van der Meiji ran his gallery since 1970, with German artists like Sigmar Polke, Markus Lüpertz and Anselm Kiefer, forming focuses its program. Paul Andriessen gave it focus more depth to include in its program of German artists Werner Buttner and Albert Elena, who first exhibited in its showrooms in the summer of 1984.
