Housed in a handsome colonial palace that previously belonged to the archbishop of Cusco—and before that it was the site of the palace of Inca Roca and then the home of a Spanish marquis—this museum is often overlooked in a city full of great museums. Don’t be so quick to rule this one out, though; inside the extravagant old house is a nice collection of colonial religious paintings, an impressive portal and Moorish-style doors, a balcony, carved-cedar ceilings, stunning stained-glass windows, and a small chapel. Even if you don’t go in, you’ll likely walk past it, as it’s on the corner of Hatunrumiyoc, a pedestrian alleyway lined with magnificent Inca stonemasonry.
