Museo Momias Chinchorro
Explore petroglyphs, pottery, textiles, mummies, and even olives at Museo Momias Chinchorro. Partnered with the university, the museum shows the cultural and anthropological development of the region over the past 10,000 years. The museum is best known for its exhibit on Chinchorro mummies--mummified remains of people of the South American chinchorro culture that lived in Peru and Chile, the world's oldest mummies. Explore exhibits on the textiles and clothing of highland shepherds and their hunting equipment, petroglyphs of pre-Hispanic art, and the historical production of olives.
