The Rotorua Museum Te Whare Taonga o Te Arawa is a local museum and art gallery in the Government Gardens near the centre of Rotorua, Bay of Plenty, North Island, New Zealand.
The Museum doors may be closed however we're offering free outside the walls tours that take in the stunning and historic Government Gardens. Rotorua Museum is fortunate to be housed in an area rich in history, and following the closure of the Bath House building in November 2016 for seismic strengthening, Rotorua Museum is offering free ‘outside the walls’ guided tours around Government Gardens. Take in the Museum grounds, learn some of the interesting history of battles, buildings and the Government Gardens which were transformed from a wilderness of scrub, hot pools and geysers into an oasis of Victorian charm. Participants are advised to bring good walking shoes and clothing suitable for the weather.
