Regional Museum of Natural History, Bhubaneswar
The Regional Museum of Natural History in Bhubaneswar was established in 2004. There are various galleries showcasing the vibrant biodiversity of Odisha, the Northeast, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, African forests and even Madagascar.The highlight of the museum, of course, is the huge skeleton of the whale Balin, which is the largest in the country.The rare fossil of the "egg" of the now extinct elephant bird is one of the similar exhibits in the country, which can be found in the museum. Skeletons of reptiles and small mammals are of particular interest to students interested in the life sciences.There is also a children’s gallery equipped with interactive displays that are popular with children.
