Hungarian National Gallery
The Hungarian National Gallery (Hungarian Magyar Nemzeti Galéria) is one of the leading art museums in Hungary, which has an extensive collection of Hungarian art from the Middle Ages to the 20th century. The gallery exposition contains works exclusively by Hungarian artists or created in Hungary. The gallery is housed in the Royal Palace in the Buda Castle. The museum was founded in 1957 and has incorporated part of the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, as well as city museums and private collections. Until 1975, this art collection was on display at the Palace of Justice in Lajos Kossuth Square, where the Ethnographic Museum is currently located.
