Chernivtsi Museum of the Diaspora Bukovynian
In August 1992, the first Diaspora Museum in Ukraine was created in Chernivtsi, and its holdings now have about 4,000 exhibits. In 2003 the museum was reorganized by the creation of the exposition department “Bukovina Diaspora” on the basis of the Chernivtsi Museum of Local Lore. The museum exhibit tells about the emigration movement in the territory of the region at the end of the 19th - the first half of the 20th century. The presented materials illuminate the difficult socio-economic situation of the population of the region, the reasons for the first, so-called economic wave of emigration, the extent of departure. Exhibition hall “Bukovina Diaspora”, dedicated to the activities of Bukovina societies in the largest settlements: USA, Canada, South America, Australia, European countries.
