After several years of teaching in Cuba and two exhibitions of Cuban art that I organized in Zurich, I opened the Havana Gallery in March 1998.
Thanks to the excellent education that the young Cubans enjoy, they create artistically high-quality and handcrafted professional works that move in their image inventions in an international contemporary context.
Religious themes often play a role in her works, but we can hardly recognize them as such, as symbols, myths and philosophies are mainly drawn from Afro-Cuban religions. Other artists deal with the political situation in the country, island life and everyday situations, mixed with dreams, aggression and eroticism.
The formal languages used are as different as the people who create them. As everywhere in the world, where true artists are at work, and there are many of them in the current generation in Cuba. They all have something to say, that is not frowned upon, it is expressly requested.
So there is also great international interest in Cuban art, as it makes a real cultural contribution in our time. It is important to me to present part of this wealth in my gallery.
