International Museum of Art Naif
The collection of the International Museum of Art Naif Magog comprises 850 pieces by more than 271 artists from 34 countries. MIANM is the only museum in Canada entirely devoted to naive art. Pieces from Quebec naive artists constitute some 35% of the collection. Most of these pieces are oil or acrylic paintings on canvass but there are other mediums and supports. Many of these paintings describe scenes from Quebec traditional past or from current daily life. The largest part of the Museum collection comes from artists from abroad. In addition to Canada, 33 other countries are represented in the collection. Most naive art paintings from foreign artists in the collection are from Haïti, France and Romania. Mexico and Russia are also present in the global collection, with a religious or folk art coloration.
