Cumhuriyet Education Museum was opened in 1998 in the historical Kılıçhane building in the garden of Sultanahmet Industrial Vocational High School. The main name of the Historical Kılıçhane building, where the museum is located, is dıskıhane, and it is the school where the sword production of the Ottoman Empire was made and the sword making was taught.
After the conquest of Istanbul, a sword factory was established in 1454 with the initiative of Gedik Ahmet Pasha, one of the viziers of Fatih Sultan Mehmet. During the reign of Mahmut I (1730-1754), Grand Vizier Yeğen Mehmet Pasha stopped the sword production there and made the building where the clothes of the Janissary soldiers were sewn (sewing room). Kılıçhane III. It was rejuvenated during the reign of Selim (1789-1807) and continued until 1868. With the initiative of Mithat Pasha, Kılıçhane was closed in 1868 with the opening of the Industrial School in the Kılıçhane building and its additional buildings.
