Maritime Museum
Maritime Museum is a museum located in the old port of Sunda Kelap, in the administrative village of Penjaringan, in the Penjaringan area, Jakarta, Indonesia. The museum was opened in the former warehouses of the Dutch East India Company. The museum is dedicated to the marine history of Indonesia and the importance of the sea for the economy of modern Indonesia.
The museum exhibits models of fishing boats and other marine objects from different parts of Indonesia. Visitors can see the collection of famous schooners “Pinisi”, which are used by the boogies - one of the ethnic groups from the province of South Sulawesi. Currently, schooners make up one of the last marine sailing fleets in the world.
