Jeju Folklore & Natural History Museum
Jeju, an island created by volcanic eruptions, has volcanic landforms and unique island culture.
Jeju's unique geological characteristics and fauna and flora have been created through different processes from the continents.
In addition, the unrelenting 'pioneering spirit' of Jeju's ancestors who came to live against the wind from the stormy sea and the stormy roads, and the 'spirit of hunting' and 'sammu' naturally formed in such life ) Is still being said to be the 'Jeju spirit' that is proud of its descendants and is an example of their lives.
In order to collect and preserve these unique 'folk relics' and 'natural historical data' to the descendants, our museum opened in 1984 as the only 'folk natural history' museum in Korea.
The exhibition room can be divided into 'folk, natural history, and marine' fields.
The folk exhibition room displays the rites of passage, ritual liquor, production and industrial materials in three dimensions. The natural history exhibition hall displays the formation process of Jeju Island, geological rocks, flora and fauna, and the marine life exhibition at the Jeju Sea Exhibition Center.
