J.K. McCarthy Museum
The J.K. McCarthy Museum is named after a most distinguished pioneer in the Administration of Papua New Guinea. John Keith McCarthy was born in St Kilda, Australia in 1905. He married Jean Letitia, the daughter of Cecil Beilby in 1937 and brought her to Rabaul within the same year to the reception of a volcanic explosion. He was Director of the Department of District Administration, and a member of the Papua New Guinea Legislative Council.
