Kasr-i Humayun - Saray Muze
The building next to the Izmit Clock Tower is a small two-storey palace built for the sultan's use. The palace, which was built in the 19th century, shows a style similarity with other buildings built during this period. The style features neoclassical, baroque and classical Ottoman art in the building.
The palace, which has served some Ottoman sultans and hosted many statesmen and important figures (Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, French Writer Claude Farrare), has an extremely active appearance on the inside and outside.
The building, which was arranged as a museum by the General Directorate of Museums on June 28, 1967, continued this service for many years. The building, which was greatly damaged in the earthquake of August 17, 1999, was restored in 2005 by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
