Founded in 1982 in the spaces of an ancient convent, the Mendrisio Museum of Art offers, with vast response from the public and critics, exhibitions dedicated to great masters of the 1900s. Opened with two significant reviews on Paul Klee, authors such as Georges Braque, Alberto Giacometti, Eduardo Chillida, Mark Tobey, Sam Francis, Jean Arp, Julius Bissier, Ben Nicholson, Meret Oppenheim, Fritz Wotruba have been revisited throughout the cycle of retrospectives , Walter Kurt Wiemken, Renato Birolli, always focusing on unexplored aspects and little-known materials of their work. Recognized internationally and nationally, thanks to its initiatives, the Museum constantly collaborates with large Swiss and European museum institutes.
