Peter Murray runs this unique musem, as he has for fifty-odd years. We probably say "treasure trove" far too often on this site, but here - especially if biking is your thing - there's really no other way to say it. It's a treasure trove.
Featuring more than a hundred bikes from throughout motorcycling history, Murray's has been part of the very fabric of the Island since the early 1950s, moving from Santon to Peel, then to the iconic location at the foot of Snaefell where it stayed for 37 years. Now they're back at Santon Villa, where it all began. Much as the incredible amount of exhibits and photos are the heart of the museum, it's fair to say that Peter is its soul. With a wealth of knowledge and an endless strream of anecdotes at hand, he welcomes visitors old and new with a laugh, a joke and a cuppa.
Racing on the Isle of Man's really pretty much always been about the little guy - the racer who builds and maintains his own bikes - rather than the huge factory teams, and nowhere showcases this independent spirit better than Murray's. The many exhibits feature fully-fledged race machines, tiny runabouts, engines and parts (some cut away to show their inner workings), and what must be thousands of photographs, publications and pictures.
