The Museum of Traditions and Boats of Lake Geneva is installed in the 16th century castle, in the heart of the historic village of Saint-Gingolph, a Franco-Swiss village.
It mainly presents objects and documents on the gilts, small transport boats, and the boats of Lake Geneva, old cargo boats with large and beautiful Latin sails, symbols of Lake Geneva heritage. It is in Saint-Gingolph that the main construction site for the boats of Lake Geneva was located.
The museum also evokes the life and the activities of the human community of the village at the time of the boats: craft industry, exploitation of the chestnut grove and the forests, transport of wood… A room is devoted to the steamers of Lake Geneva.
