The Centro de Textiles Tradicionales del Cusco is a non-profit organization founded in 1996, when in this region of the Ande the traditional fabrics created in the ancient pre-Columbian cultures of Peru were in serious danger of disappearing forever. Young people had stopped weaving and textile knowledge was only in the hands of the elderly and old.
The objectives of the Center are: To rescue, disseminate and promote traditional fabrics by providing assistance to weaving communities. By conducting research and documenting styles, techniques and designs, the Center helps preserve the weaving tradition for future generations.
