National History Museum of Bulgaria - one of the largest museums of its kind in the Balkans, keeps in its collection more than 650 000 items of historical value, and introducing visitors to the history of the country from ancient times to the present day. The collection consists of three sections: archeology, history and ethnography. Among the exhibits - the ancient coins, weapons, household items, furniture, maps, heraldic symbols, rare historical photographs, church utensils, stamps. The museum was founded May 5, 1973, his first exhibition, which opened in 1984, was dedicated to the 1300th anniversary of the Bulgarian state.
