Open-air museum on Seurasaari Island - an island about three kilometers long in the western part of Helsinki. Island - National Museum of the Finnish way of life and traditions. The museum is located 87 houses and buildings, all surrounded by a beautiful forest landscape. Every summer the museum attracts a large number of visitors. The island itself - a unique natural habitat with a large variety of wildlife. An open-air museum was founded in 1909 on the island. The main purpose of the museum was to preserve the unspoilt rural architecture of the Finnish people.
