Adding to this valuable centres, a first of its kind fire and rescue museum — Late Keshavrao Narayanrao Jagtap Fire Brigade Museum was inaugurated on the 18th of December 2016. The carefully curated collection boasts of the Rolls-Royce Vintage Dennis fire brigade used in 1961 Panshet Dam burst rescue operations.
People usually do not realise the importance of fire brigades and fire men. This museum is meant to increase an awareness about them, the old and new equipment, the techniques used in a fire disaster and so on. The museum is spread over the ground and first floor. The ground floor has a 1956 vintage fire engine, which cost about Rs. 88,000 back then. On the first floor, one will find all the equipment used in fire management, like different suits, wireless sets, rescue belts, monitors to spray water (which are mounted on the fire engine), emergency lights, special cameras which let you see through the smoke and more.
