Ratnagiri has been an abode of Bal Gangadhar Tilak, celebrated legends who was an Indian nationalist, teacher, social reformer, and lawyer. The place where he was born is now converted into a museum, now known as the Tilak Ali Museum. Easily approachable and effortlessly noticeable because of Bal Gangadhar Tilak's statue right in the front, the museum features many exhibits in the form of his photographers and paintings. All these paintings and pictures of Bal Gangadhar Tilak gives one glimpses into his struggle for freedom. This museum in Ratnagiri is maintained by the Archeological Department of India.
