Regionalmuseum Chuechlihus
The museum was founded in 1930 on the basis of the historical collection of the Langnau secondary school and the private collection of a senior teacher. Originally, two or three rooms in the building were assigned to the museum. Thanks to private initiatives, the groupage could be increased and its importance increased. In 1961 the municipality of Langnau made more space available to the museum, and in 1981 the entire building was restored with a barn section that had been specially removed and expanded to 20 exhibition rooms.
In spring 2009 the museum was expanded and it now comprises 25 rooms with permanent exhibitions on the history, everyday life, trade and craft of the Emmental as well as important personalities of the region. One of the largest and most important collections of Langnau ceramics as well as cooper and bottle glass complement the offer.
The small courtyard with farm garden invites you to linger and offers space for aperitifs or concerts.
Every year, two special exhibitions from the Schwaar Foundation's groupage are organized.
The Regional Museum Chüechlihus is one of the largest and most diverse houses with a local history collection.
