Museum of History, Anthropology and Art
The University of Puerto Rico received its first donation of works of art in 1914, when the existence of a museum was not yet visualized. Don Federico Degetau, first resident commissioner in Washington, whose goal was to establish an art gallery on the Island, donates a set of paintings that he acquired during his travels in Europe. When the collection was delivered to the Institution, it was exposed in the building where the Academic Senate is located today. However, later, the works were exhibited on walls of classrooms and University offices for many years.
