The exposition tells about the events of the Time of Troubles of the early 17th century, the first Russian Patriarch Jov - born in Staritsa, the abbot of the Staritsa Uspensky Monastery, about the role of the monastery in the life of the town, about the reforms of Catherine II, who approved the coat of arms and town's plan. The museum shows the most important old-time trades: masonry, blacksmithing, pottery, as well as objects of traditional folk life.
