The Tarusa Art Gallery was founded in 1963, since 1968 - a branch of the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts. The basis of the collection of the gallery was a collection of Russian, Western European painting, graphics and decorative art of the Moscow scientist-agronomist, a famous collector Nikolai Petrovich Rakitsky.
