Aviamuzey Karhula Flying Club of the city of Kotka is 16 km from the city center, on the airfield. The airfield is tucked away in the woods, and the museum is located on its territory in a big green iron hangar. Kymi airfield was built during World War II (1942-43gg) for fighter aircraft squadron Messerschmitt Bf 109 air defense of the city Kotka, one of whose tasks - the task of maintaining the military airfield 34th Fighter Squadron. Nearly all aircraft are in working order. It is the only museum of its kind in the Kymenlaakso region. The flying club has a long-standing dream to gather a collection of old aircraft. The first glider flying club Forty 1 was left in storage in 1959. Museum began its operations in August 1992. In fact, when the Finnish Air Force handed over the club to the storage of decommissioned aircraft Fouga CM 170 Magister FM-43.
