The Maritime Archaeology Museum in Galle is the only museum that showcases the marine biological and anthropological aspects of the Southern coast of Sri Lanka. Situated at the Dutch warehouse of the Galle Fort that was built in 1671, the Maritime Archaeology Museum exhibits marine artefacts that are found during underwater expeditions.

Display of the museum comprises objects, replicas, models, panels, videos and reconstruction s that cover a long period which spans from 5000 BCE to the late 19th century CE. 2200 years old depiction of a ship which is appeared in one of the inscriptions found in North Central province in Sri Lanka, the logo of this museum itself symbolizes this continuous tradition.
