The creative life of I.P.Pavlov was connected with St.Petersburg. The last 18 years of his life he lived in the so called '"House of Academician", situated on the 7th Line of the district, called "Vasilievsky Ostrov". This building was founded at the personal order of Peter the Great and in 1725 was given by the State - Treasury to the newly founded Academy of Sciences of Russia. During the following two centuries, many prominent Russian scientists and academicians lived in there. Amongst them were: A.O.Kovalevsky, V.I.Palladin, V.I.Vernadsky, A.E.Fersman, N.Y.Marr and many others. Their names are imprinted on the memorial stone plaques, on the facade of this house - an anique monument to Russian science. The classical image, given to the building by the architects A.D.Zakharov and A.G.Bezhanov in 1806 - 1808 is preserved until now.
