The Natural History Museum is a natural history museum located in Mexico City. It is located in the second section of the Chapultepec Forest. Through its exhibited specimens, the museum aims to offer its visitors a summary of the history of the universe, of Earth and of the human being. It was originally founded in 1790 as a cabinet of natural history (at that time the cabinets of curiosities were the precedents of the current museums). Later, and at certain specific moments in its history, both its name and its location have changed. For example, from 1909 to 1964 it was called the "National Museum of Natural History", but in 1964 it was officially renamed the "Museum of Natural History", a name that it has kept to this day.
