The State Museum of the History of St. Petersburg

Today the center of the State Museum of the History of St. Petersburg is the Peter and Paul Fortress - a unique monument of history, architecture and fortification art of the 18th - 20th centuries. The historical buildings of the Peter and Paul Fortress houses the museum’s collections, expositions and temporary museum exhibitions.The museum holds more than two million exhibits that reflect the history of the city on the Neva from its foundation to the present day.
