The State Museum of Urban Sculpture
The state Museum of urban sculpture in Saint Petersburg was founded on July 28, 1932. It is the only Museum institution in Russia dedicated to the study, protection and restoration of monuments of monumental art in an open urban environment. In the Museum more than 200 monuments and 1500 memorial plaques. Among the Museum objects: Rostral columns, Narva and Moscow triumphal gates, Sphinxes on the pier at the Academy of arts, Equestrian groups on the Anichkov bridge, monuments to Peter I, Catherine II, Nicholas I, Alexander Pushkin, M. V. Lomonosov, A.V. Suvorov - became symbols of St. Petersburg and many others.
