The territory of the Uglich Kremlin, on which the museum is located, is a unique natural landscape and archaeological monument. Its architectural ensemble includes seven buildings and structures built in the XV-XIX centuries. In 2015, a monument was opened in the Uglich Kremlin dedicated to "Tsarevich Dmitry Killed". The authors, the sculptor A. Rukavishnikov and the artist Hegumen Raphael (Simakov) took the image created by M. Nesterov in the picture "Tsarevich Dmitry Killed" (1899). The memorial exhibition complex "The Relics of the Uglich Tragedy" in Tsarevich Dimitry's Church on Blood contains items related to the death and canonization of Tsarevich Dimitry, the younger son of Ivan the Terrible.
The exhibition "Uglich in the history of the Russian state in XVI - early XX centuries" is presented in the upper floor of the palace of the Chambers of the princes, in ancient carved display cases.
