Archaeological Museum
The Sarnath Archaeological Museum was founded in 1910 and is an ASI Museum (Archaeological Survey of India). It was built to preserve and display antiquities found during excavations at Sarnaft. The design of the museum was commissioned by Mr. James Ransom, who was an architect-consultant to the Government of India.The museum has five galleries and two verandas. There are many important artifacts showcasing materials and techniques used from the 3rd century BC to the 12th century AD found in Sarnaft. The museum also has an attached archeological park and a souvenir shop at the entrance.
