New Zealand Cartoon Archive
The New Zealand Cartoon Archive is a collection of New Zealand political and editorial cartoons dating from the late 19 century up until today. Cartoons are valuable in that they encapsulate the events of the past. The cartoons being collected by the Archive complement very well the written historical records held by the Alexander Turnbull Library and are often called the 'unofficial record' of the nations history, the history that isn't written given the cold objectivity of time. Cartoons provide an extra dimension to our understanding of the past.
